Shipbroking Majors unite to launch Ocean Recap, the new solution in the Recap & Charter Party management space
London, 2025: In a pioneering collaboration, five of the world’s leading shipbroking
firms—Arrow, Gibson Shipbrokers, Howe Robinson, Ifchor Galbraiths and SSY—have
united to introduce Ocean Recap – a purpose-built Recap and Charter Party
management platform.
This innovative solution is set to transform the Recap and Charter Party landscape,
providing a data “safe haven” for Charterers and Owners while championing
independence and security within the maritime industry.
Developed in partnership with Signal Ocean, Ocean Recap has been meticulously
crafted over the past 18 months to address the growing concerns of monopolisation
and data security in the Recap and Charter Party space. With a focus on creating an
industry-first solution, Ocean Recap has already demonstrated its value during rigorous
internal testing, producing over 1,000 Charter Parties for more than 75 Clients across
both the Tanker and Dry markets.
A Milestone in Partnership, Collaboration and Innovation
Ocean Recap’s journey began 18 months ago with a shared vision from its founding
partners. In a rapidly changing digital C/P landscape they recognised that the pace of
consolidation could result in a Recap and Charter Party data-oligopoly at best, and a
monopoly at worst.
To address this, the shipbrokers partnered with Signal Ocean to ensure Ocean Recap’s
independence and neutrality. Structured to operate independently, the platform
inherently provides a secure environment for customer data.
Ocean Recap’s development has been marked by several key milesstones, including the
completion of an independently performed penetration test in August 2024, the
implementation of an Information Security Management System in September 2024
and the initiation of ISO27001 implementation in October that year. In December 2024,
the platform entered into strategic collaborations with notable charterers and owners,
validating its proposition even further.
From today onwards, Ocean Recap will enter its final testing stage by making a limited
number of spaces available for charterers and owners who would like to engage as early
adopters and contribute to the project with their feedback and ideas. Following this, a
general release to market is scheduled for mid-2025, thereby signifying a new era in the
Recap and Charter Party space.
